WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott released the following statement after reports of Communist China’s plan to roll out national security steps for Hong Kong.

Senator Rick Scott said, “Communist China has turned Hong Kong into a police state and is cracking down on any efforts by Hong Kongers to protest their treatment by Beijing. This latest attempt to conceal their efforts to crack down on freedom of speech and basic human rights is nothing but a sham. Communist China will not do anything to help the people of Hong Kong, but we will not give up the fight for freedom. The United States, and all freedom-loving countries, must stand up to President Xi and refuse to do business with Communist China until he stops violating human rights.”
