Senator Rick Scott Requests Immediate Information from FBI on Russian Interference in Florida’s Election Systems
April 19, 2019
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott sent a letter to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray requesting the FBI immediately provide any information to corroborate claims in the Mueller report of Russian interference in Florida’s election systems.

Director Christopher A. Wray
Federal Bureau of Investigation
935 Pennsylvania Avenue N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20535-0001
Dear Director Wray:
Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report was released yesterday, April 18, 2019. The report states:
“We understand the FBI believes that this operation enabled the GRU to gain access to the network of at least one Florida county government. The Office did not independently verify that belief, and, as explained above, did not undertake the investigative steps that would have been necessary to do so.”
I am requesting that the FBI provide any evidence to corroborate these claims to Congress and to the Florida Department of State within seven days. Specifically, I would like to know which Florida county was compromised.
In August of 2018, when I was serving as Governor of Florida, my Administration reached out to the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security to provide any information on Russian interference in our elections, and both agencies denied that Russia had successfully infiltrated Florida’s election systems.
It is my goal to have free and fair elections with zero fraud, which is why, as Governor, I invested millions of dollars in cyber security, hired additional cyber security staff, and secured election security grants for all 67 counties in Florida. This is a very serious issue that needs the immediate attention of the FBI.
Thank you for your prompt attention and response to this request.
Sincerely,
Rick Scott
United States Senator
