The Honorable Scott Morrison
Prime Minister of Australia
Parliament House
Canberra ACT 2600
Dear Prime Minister Morrison:
I want to thank you for your strong, ongoing efforts to stand against Communist China and General Secretary Xi. I support your decision to fight against their unfair and manipulative trade practices, and to condemn the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) vile, online attacks against Australians.
The United States stands with Australia as you continue to fight against Communist China’s aggression. We must work together to curb the threat Beijing poses regionally and globally.
We know the CCP is committing a genocide against the Uyghurs, harvesting organs of the Falun Gong, and forcing hundreds of thousands into mass labor camps in Tibet. They steal technology and refuse to open their markets to foreign goods as required by their agreement with the World Trade Organization. We’ve seen them imprison peaceful protestors in Hong Kong and label Hong Kongers who advocate for basic civil liberties as national security threats. The CCP continues to militarize the South China Sea and is eager to expand its territorial claims in the region.
I appreciate your support of an international inquiry into the origins of the coronavirus pandemic. Beijing must be held accountable for the lies and misinformation that led to the spread of the coronavirus, which devastated the world economy and killed millions of people. I also appreciate your decision to ban the rollout of Huawei’s 5G networks into Australia, as well as your continued condemnation of human rights abuses in Xinjiang and Hong Kong, and the CCP’s threatening behavior toward Taiwan. I hope you consider joining me in urging the International Olympic Committee to move the 2022 Olympics out of Beijing and to a country that actually respects human rights.
As you continue to stand strong against Communist China, I want to offer help in any way I can. The United States will always defend our allies and those standing for freedom.
Sincerely,
Rick Scott
United States Senator
