November 9, 2021
MIAMI, Fla. – Today, Senator Rick Scott recognized the 50th anniversary of Versailles, “The World’s Most Famous Cuban Restaurant,” in Miami with a resolution he introduced in the United States Senate. Senator Marco Rubio cosponsored the resolution. Over the past 50 years, Versailles has become an icon in South Florida’s Cuban community and remains an invaluable part of the incredible Cuban-American culture in Miami and throughout the state.
Senator Rick Scott said, “I have been honored to visit Versailles many times over the years, but today is particularly special. Fifty years ago, Versailles was founded by Felipe Valls Sr., a Cuban immigrant who, scarred by the oppression of the communist Cuban regime, came to the United States hopeful for a new life. His dreams have certainly been achieved. I am so proud to be in Miami today to present a resolution commending Versailles on its 50th anniversary and decades of hard work and service to the people of Miami and its countless visitors. Versailles is more than just a restaurant, it’s an icon in the Cuban community, an invaluable part of our culture and a true testament that the American dream is alive and well.”
