WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, as President Biden works to implement an unconstitutional vaccine mandate on private businesses, Senator Rick Scott spoke on the Senate floor alongside his colleagues to oppose Biden’s reckless and harmful mandate that will force unvaccinated Americans into a unfair choice: get the vaccine, or lose your job. The White House’s announcement to unconstitutionally mandate vaccines for private businesses is expected to include a fine for persons who do not comply at companies with more than 100 employees.

Senator Rick Scott said, “Last year, Joe Biden promised that he wouldn’t push a vaccine mandate. Just 10 months into his failed presidency, he’s either forgotten what he said or deliberately gone back on his word. Biden’s unconstitutional vaccine mandate is a gross overreach of government and he knows it. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that Biden has this power. This isn’t about controlling COVID, it’s about controlling the lives of American families and making government as big and powerful as he can.

“I had COVID, I got the vaccine and I encourage everyone to talk with their doctor and consider doing the same. The government’s role here is to educate and inform, not force this choice on the American people. Everything Joe Biden does makes things worse for families and businesses in Florida and across America. That’s why I’ve introduced multiple bills to push back on Biden’s unconstitutional, job-killing mandates. Of course, the Democrats block them at every turn. While it’s clear that Democrats will do anything to defend Biden’s failed, socialist agenda, I won’t stop fighting to protect American workers.”
