VIDEO RELEASE Sen. Rick Scott: NDAA Must Immediately Come to the Senate Floor
November 2, 2021
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott joined his colleagues in a press conference about Senator Schumer’s choice to continue delaying the Senate’s vote on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which includes nearly $768 billion in defense spending, a $25 billion increase over President Joe Biden’s inadequate budget request. Senator Scott is also calling for the NDAA to include his legislation which would establish a joint select committee tasked with investigating Biden’s failed withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Senator Rick Scott said, “The top priority of government is to keep our country safe, but it’s been nearly four months since the Armed Services Committee passed the NDAA, and Senator Schumer has yet to bring the bill to the floor. We all saw the Biden administration’s utter failure in Afghanistan. Hundreds of Americans are still stuck behind enemy lines. That’s why the NDAA must include my bill establishing a joint select committee to investigate Biden’s failed Afghanistan withdrawal and to hold him accountable. Our adversaries are getting stronger while Joe Biden is letting our reputation wither and Senator Schumer plays political games. It’s time to take decisive action and give our military the resources they need. We can’t put our national security at risk.”
