WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott released the below statement following his vote to confirm Katherine Tai as U.S. Trade Representative.

Senator Rick Scott said, “I voted today to confirm Katherine Tai as U.S. Trade Representative. My focus is on combatting the threat of Communist China, with the understanding that they never live up to any deal and must be held accountable. I had a great conversation with Ms. Tai, and she shares my view that our relationship with China is about more than just trade. We have to focus on human rights and talk about Communist China’s growing influence around the world. We also spoke about the importance of the U.S. negotiating a trade deal with Taiwan, which is long overdue.

“I look forward to Ms. Tai continuing the important work of making sure all Florida growers have what they need to succeed and domestic seasonal producers in Florida are protected from unfair trade practices.”
