VIDEO RELEASE Democrats Block Common-Sense Measure to Resume Cruise Operations

April 21, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senators Rick Scott and Dan Sullivan sought to pass their Careful Resumption Under Improved Safety Enhancements (CRUISE) Act on the Senate floor, which would revoke the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) current No Sail Order on cruises and require the CDC to provide COVID-19 mitigation guidance for cruise lines to resume safe domestic operations. For months, the CDC has left the cruise industry in the dark, refusing to issue new guidance that would allow employers to plan for the resumption of cruises. Democrats blocked this common-sense measure, despite the thousands of jobs and billions in economic impact relying on the success of this industry.
