VIDEO RELEASE Sen. Rick Scott: Democrats’ Corrupt Politicians Act is an Assault on American Elections
June 17, 2021
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott joined several of his colleagues in a press conference condemning the Democrats’ radical “Corrupt Politicians Act,” which would remove the most basic safeguards against election fraud and diminish Americans’ confidence in our nation’s elections. Meanwhile, Senator Scott has proposed several common-sense reforms, including his Save Democracy Act, which takes real steps to improve our election system and restore confidence in our nation’s democracy.
Senator Rick Scott said, “The Democrats’ radical S.1 proposal, better known as the Corrupt Politicians Act, is the most ridiculous legislation I’ve seen since I came to the Senate. It’s nothing but a political power grab by Washington Democrats that would funnel hundreds of millions in American taxpayer dollars into political campaigns and attack ads. It’s as plain as this – Chuck Schumer and the Democrats want the government to take taxpayer dollars and then attempt to manipulate their votes with it.
“A candidate for U.S. Senate in California could get up to $80 million in taxpayer money. In Georgia, candidates could get as much as $25 million. Chuck Schumer could get $44 million for his next campaign in New York. No wonder he loves this terrible bill. Only in Washington would a bunch of politicians look at the challenges of recovering from the pandemic and decide the most important thing we can do is make taxpayers fund campaign ads. Here is my promise to every American family: I am going to fight every day to make sure the Democrats do not try to take your money to manipulate your vote. We can’t let this pass.”
Senator Scott also spoke on the Senate floor on the Democrats’ radical Corrupt Politicians Act proposal yesterday. See more in the video HERE or below.
