Sen. Rick Scott: Communist Cuban Regime Doubles Down on Censorship as Biden Remains Silent
August 19, 2021
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott issued the following statement after the illegitimate communist Cuban regime announced it established new internet censorship regulations which prohibit the Cuban people from posting content on social media websites that may offend the fragile sensibilities of Miguel Díaz-Canel.
Senator Scott continues to call on the Biden administration to take decisive action to ensure the people of Cuba can communicate with each other and the outside world through unfettered access to the internet and cellular networks.
Senator Rick Scott said, “For over a month, I have called on President Biden to take action to address the illegitimate communist Cuban regime’s internet and cellular blackouts. He has done nothing. Like in every other crisis under his watch, Biden is shamefully silent. Now, the communist Cuban regime is going further. Terrified by the freedom movement, Díaz-Canel and his Castro thugs are doubling down on its censorship of the Cuban people in its weak attempts to hide this fight from the world and keep them from organizing. The time for action and leadership is now. President Biden can’t keep ignoring the fight for freedom in Cuba. He must abandon the failed appeasement polices of the past and stand with the Cuban people for a new day of freedom on the island.”
