Sen. Rick Scott: In 2022, Florida’s Higher Education System Continues to be Best in the Nation

September 13, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott released the following statement commending Florida’s public universities after the release of the 2022 Best Colleges rankings by U.S. News & World Report. Out of the Top Public Schools, the University of Florida is ranked #5, Florida State University is ranked #19, the University of South Florida is ranked #46, and the University of Central Florida is ranked #67, Florida International University is ranked #78, Florida A&M University is ranked #104, the University of North Florida is ranked #132, and Florida Atlantic University is ranked #140. In March, Florida was ranked the best state in the nation for higher education for the fifth consecutive year.

Senator Rick Scott said, “For five years in a row, U.S. News & World Report has rated Florida’s higher education system as the best in the nation and this year’s rankings show that our colleges and universities continue to excel. We are incredibly proud of the accomplishments of our universities, but we also know the work to achieve excellence in higher education is never finished. While I was Governor of Florida, we held the line on tuition and challenged universities to instill metrics that helped students find jobs so that college was affordable for working families and students graduated on time ready to enter the workforce. As Senator, I’ll never stop fighting for our students, and I look forward to even more success from these great programs and all of Florida's higher education institutions."
