WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott released the below statement following President Joe Biden’s announcement of financial sanctions against Russian leaders and banks as Russia begins its invasion of Ukraine.

Senator Rick Scott said, “After weeks of doing next to nothing to support our ally, Ukraine, at the risk of hurting Putin’s feelings, I’m glad Joe Biden is finally taking steps to hold Russia accountable. But these sanctions are not enough - the United States needs to implement maximum sanctions, just as we have on Iran. Now is the time to implement all measures to destroy the Russian economy, which predominatly serves Putin and his thugs, and eliminate their ability to reshape European borders. We don’t have time for Biden’s weakness.”
