Sen. Rick Scott: Rising Energy Costs are Crushing Florida Families
March 16, 2022
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, following a recent Census Bureau report detailing the impacts of rising energy costs over the past twelve months, Senator Rick Scott released the below statement urging the Biden administration to halt its reckless, inflation-fueling government spending. The report found that over the last year 24% of Americans reduced or forwent expenses on basic items such as food and medicine as a way to afford their energy bills. Biden’s skyrocketing inflation crisis is especially impacting families in the Sunshine State, where 26.1% of Floridians surveyed said they have been forced to make this impossible choice.
Senator Rick Scott said, “It is UNACCEPTABLE that any Floridian would feel the need to forego food or medicine to pay their energy bills. To learn that more than a quarter of people surveyed in our state had to make this impossible choice because of rising inflation and skyrocketing energy costs is absolutely heartbreaking.
“This is a terrible consequence of Joe Biden’s raging inflation crisis and war on American energy production. The Biden administration needs to stop standing in the way of U.S. energy and ditch its insane Green New Deal policies. Families all over our nation, especially Florida, have suffered under Biden’s failed agenda and it must end NOW.”
