VIDEO RELEASE Democrats Block Sen. Rick Scott’s Urgent Request to Vote on Ukraine Aid

March 10, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott asked for unanimous consent on the Senate floor for the Senate to take up and vote on the Ukraine aid package. Senator Scott’s request was to pass the identical aid package that was overwhelmingly approved by the House of Representatives last night and is currently being held hostage by Senator Chuck Schumer in the massive $1.5 trillion Omnibus spending package. Senators Marsha Blackburn, John Boozman, Tom Cotton, Steve Daines, Joni Ernst, Chuck Grassley, Cynthia Lummis and Roger Marshall have cosponsored the proposal.

Senator Rick Scott said, “It is difficult to express my anger and frustration at the heartless actions we saw from Senate Democrats today. While Cold-Blooded Chuck plays politics, Russian bombs are being dropped on homes, cities and hospitals and killing innocent families; Putin is raging an attack on freedom and democracy in Europe; and our enemies in Communist China and around the globe are watching this play out, taking notes. That’s right – Senate Democrats just BLOCKED the opportunity to immediately vote on aid for Ukraine so they can hold it hostage in the $1.5 TRILLION, 2,700 page Omnibus that is full of wasteful earmarks and hasn’t been scored by the CBO. What the hell are we doing here? Ukrainian lives and the reputation of the United States on the line. Senate Democrats should be ashamed by what Schumer made them do today and the American people should be furious.”
