DORAL, Fla. – Today, Senator Rick Scott was joined by former political prisoners and leaders of Miami’s Latin American community in a press conference on the unprecedented indictment of former President Donald J. Trump and President Joe Biden’s abandonment of equal justice under the law.

Here in Miami, folks know a thing or two about dangerous government overreach.

We have families here from Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua who can tell you EXACTLY what it’s like to watch a government punish its opponents while ignoring its own sins.

That’s not supposed to happen in America.

The individuals with me here today are here because that’s not supposed to happen in the United States of America.

But now it has. This is a wakeup call to America and we are here to tell the stories of what happens when this goes unchecked.

For more than two centuries, our country has prospered as a beacon of democracy. 

For more than two centuries, our system of government has distinguished itself from dictators and despots like Ortega, Maduro, Castro, and others who wield the levers of power to target political opponents and insulate themselves and their cronies from accountability. 

With this unprecedented indictment, the Biden administration is crossing the Rubicon into despotism.

Biden is single-handedly undermining the Rule of Law, and further destroying the public’s trust in America’s justice system.

I don’t know how anyone could believe that Joe Biden won’t be known as the most corrupt president in our nation's history.

Think about what happened last Thursday…on the SAME DAY that Joe Biden’s $5 MILLION bribe was exposed to the public, his Department of Justice indicts Donald Trump.

Let’s contrast this with Donald Trump while he was the sitting president.

As President, Donald Trump could have easily overseen the prosecution of Hillary Clinton.

Let’s remember, Hillary set up the email server despite being told by the Department of State not to do so.

She had classified materials on the email server at her house and on her personal phone.

We all know what happened next. She intentionally deleted tens of thousands of emails, wiped clean her server and destroyed phones, all which had classified records while they were under subpoena by a House committee.

Where is the investigation into Hillary?

She now brags about and fundraises off this crime…can you believe that?

She intentionally destroyed material information while under a subpoena. 

Was there enough to indict her for a federal crime before a grand jury, like mishandling classified information and material? Based on what we know, ABSOLUTELY. 

But Trump opted NOT to do what Biden is now doing: pursue a criminal case against a political opponent merely because he could.

This isn’t about Republicans and Democrats. No one is above the law. Period. But the Rule of Law requires EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER THE LAW. That has gone missing under the Biden administration.

Finally – let’s just be honest for a second. And this is VERY IMPORTANT…

If the DOJ had indicted Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden for their mishandling of documents…then the DOJ’s actions last Thursday would make some sense.

But they did not, because the Department of Justice and the FBI have been infected by politics and partisanship – and that is a disaster of the highest order for our country.

Biden’s Justice Department has a track record of targeting anyone who Biden thinks is a political opponent. 

We’ve seen them wrongly harass and intimidate parents who commit the sin of disagreeing at a school board meeting.

We’ve seen them target and investigate pro-life groups

We’ve seen them target and investigate Catholic groups.

Biden has done many things to hurt families all across our country…from inflation, the economy, to the border, to energy policy…but destroying the idea of blind justice is probably the very biggest damage he has caused.

I DON’T CARE IF YOU LIKE OR HATE DONALD TRUMP – All Americans should be against politicizing our justice system.

I do not understand Republican and Democrat Leaders who are too timid to say this…even those who do not like Trump.

The politicization of our Justice System has to stop.

It sure looks like the system is rigged against anyone who opposes Biden. We should each be furious about this and it’s clear that we need to stand up and start saying NO.

No to harassing and targeting parents.

No to targeting pro-life groups with baseless investigations.

No to targeting Catholics with wild investigations.

No to targeting political opponents.

If we do not stop this now, what will they target you for?

If we say nothing, then when they come for you, no one will be there to speak out against it.
