Sen. Rick Scott Issues Weekly Update on Biden’s Inflation Crisis, Calls for Resignation of Fed Chair Powell

August 25, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, Senator Rick Scott released a weekly update on his actions to address America’s debt crisis and rising inflation by sharing his statement from earlier this morning calling for the resignation of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. Earlier today, Chair Powell shared remarks on the state of America’s struggling economy in which he failed to acknowledge the financial hardships families are facing across the country, like the skyrocketing price of gas and groceries, and neglected to discuss the government’s role in President Biden’s inflation crisis caused to reckless federal spending.

Senator Rick Scott said, “The only announcement that Jay Powell should be making today is his resignation, effective immediately. His gross mismanagement of the Federal Reserve has stolen the American Dream from millions of families and caused massive damage to our economy.”

Earlier this Congress, Senator Scott introduced three new bills to reform the Federal Reserve and increase accountability to Congress and the American people. Senator Scott’s bills build on legislation filed earlier this year which would make the Fed’s Inspector General a truly independent auditor following findings of possible conflicts of interest.

Since being elected to the U.S. Senate, Senator Scott has repeatedly urged action to address America’s debt crisis and the harmful effects of inflation.
