Sen. Rick Scott on CPI Report: After Four Years of Biden, Families Are in Need of a Washington Turnaround Story

December 11, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, following the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Senator Rick Scott released the below statement highlighting the need for the Trump administration to bring fiscal reforms in the new year that will finally put an end to the ongoing inflation crisis fueled by the Biden-Harris administration’s reckless tax-and-spend agenda. November’s CPI data shows that there has been a significant rise in inflation during the Biden-Harris administration, with CPI increasing 2.7% percent over the year in November 2024—higher than last month. Since the Biden-Harris administration took office, inflation is up 20.6%.

Senator Rick Scott said, “The Biden-Harris administration will be remembered forever by families for its 20% inflation and economic failures that placed historic financial burdens on folks in every state. Whether it’s at the gas pump, grocery store, or paying rent, inflation continues to climb and so do prices as Biden takes advantage of Washington’s broken status quo with trillions in reckless spending. It’s time for a total fiscal turnaround on the national level to get our economy back on track, just like we did in Florida. With Trump back in office, and Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy heading the Department of Government Efficiency, we can get to work ending the inflation nightmare plaguing the American people by reining in big government, cutting wasteful spending, paying down the $36 trillion debt crisis and growing our economy. It’s not too late to save the American dream and January 20th can’t come soon enough.”

According to today’s CPI release, price increases over the year include:

  • Beef: +5.0%
  • Pork Chops: +5.1%
  • Eggs: +37.5%
  • Fruit: +3.3%
  • Beans: +7.4%
  • Butter: +3.6%

Since being elected to the U.S. Senate, Senator Scott has repeatedly urged action to address America’s debt crisis and the harmful effects of inflation.
