OMAHA BEACH, France – Today, Senator Rick Scott joined a bipartisan group of United States Senators in Normandy, France to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion by Allied forces during World War II. Senator Scott and his colleagues joined President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron at the American Cemetery of Colleville-sur-Mer for a ceremony honoring the brave men and women who fought for freedom that day.
Senator Rick Scott said, “My father served in World War II, and was among the soldiers of the 82nd Airborne in Normandy who fought for freedom on this day 75 years ago. It’s truly humbling to join my colleagues in France to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Today, we honor the sacrifices made here by the brave men and women fighting to free Europe from the yoke of tyranny and evil, and we recognize the incredible service of our nation’s military and veterans. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I will always work to support our American heroes.”
